Theories Applicable to Learning Sanskrit |

Behaviourist theory,
Cognitive theory, Reception learning, Reading comprehension
theory, Meaningful verbal learning theory, Natural
development theory. |

Unit III:
Teaching of Prose and Poetry |
| |
(i)
Prose
Aims of teaching prose; use of sentence patterns;
understanding and use of correct grammatical forms;
appreciation of literature written in different forms
and style; different types of prose lessons; characteristic
of a good textbook.
Aims of teaching Sanskrit with non-detailed text.
(ii) Poetry
Aims of teaching poetry in comparison with those of
teaching prose; stress on affective changes like appreciation,
broadening pupils' imagination.
Unit IV: Teaching of Grammar and Composition
(i) Grammar
Place of grammar, unconscious assimilation of grammatically
correct forms; approaches to the study of grammatical
concepts and principles.
(ii) Composition
General principles; oral work to precede written work;
choice of subjects to 't students' interest; guided
writing to free writing of composition; types of imposition
work.
